Growing Around What Hurt

"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." --Psalm 147:3 (KJV)

The spike represents what happened to you. Something painful driven into a life that had already been growing for years. The tree carries the wound, and the wound becomes part of it's story. But the spike doesn't stop the tree from growing.
Over time, the tree grows around what hurt it. It doesn't pretend the spike was never there, and it doesn't have to call the wound good. It simply refuses to let the wound determine whether it will keep living and growing.
The spike may remain part of my story, but it will not be the end of my story.
What wounded me did not destroy me. God is still growing something beautiful around the place where I was hurt.
You can carry evidence of what happened without allowing what happened to define who you become.
Thought for the Day: The wound may be part of my story, but God gets to write the ending.
